Kings Mountain man charged in 22-year-old sex assault case

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) - A Kings Mountain man is facing sex assault charges which allegedly occurred 22 years ago.

James Tommy Deaton, 43, of Maner Road, has been charged with three felony counts each of First-Degree Sexual Offense, Taking Indecent Liberties with a Minor, and Crime Against Nature.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, the incidents occurred between January and December of 1989. 

The sheriff's office says the female victim was 9 years old at the time and the incidents occurred at a home off Baxter Deaton Lane in western Lincoln County. 

Deaton is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $150,000.

DENVER - Deputies arrested three people Monday night after neighbors joined forces to catch a crew of burglars in the act.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, a resident at 4791 Burton Lane noticed on Monday that his dirt bike had been taken from his garage.  As he searched his property for the bike, he found the bike hidden under a pile of leaves.
