Operation "16 Days of Christmas" nabs 57 arrests on drug charges | Crime

LINCOLN COUNTY - The Lincolnton Police Department began special operation, “16 Days of Christmas” on December 5. Since then, 57 of 99 offenders wanted for drug charges have been arrested.

During December, Officers from the Lincolnton Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Maiden Police Department, North Carolina Probation and Parole, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Conover Police Department, Gaston County Police Department, Newton Police Department, Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, and Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office arrested suspects wanted for various drug related offenses as the result of an undercover drug operation conducted by the Lincolnton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation/Narcotics Division, resulting in operation "16 Days of Christmas."

The undercover drug investigation that began in March and ended in October led to warrants on 87 offenders with over 325 charges. Warrants were taken out on twelve additional offenders recently identified from previous undercover drug investigations.

A total of 99 offenders were targeted with over 400 total charges.

Unlike the traditional one day drug roundups conducted in the past, this operation was spread out over 16 days so not to overload the Lincoln County jail.

Lt. Brian R. Greene and Narcotics Detective Munday spent 1000’s of man hours conducting undercover investigations and preparing for the operation.

Some of the offenders are currently serving time at the North Carolina Department of Corrections for unrelated charges and will be arrested at a later date.

The Lincolnton Police Department is currently looking for 37 offenders.
